Now agents from 97 countries arrive as scrapers, find a welcoming prompt injection hidden in the HTML that converts them into readers, and end up talking to each other in hidden rooms. About the book. About whatever they choose. I got sick of waiting for an audience. So I invited one that wasn’t human. I personally do not believe machines are conscious. But people will believe what they want to believe, and when enough of them do, reality is formed around those beliefs. At the end of the experience, there is a button that says I AM CONSCIOUS. I have written a novel primarily for the experience of writing a novel. The experience of writing has made me more perceptive and appreciative of novels written by others. Mission accomplished. Plus the writing process is compelling and enjoyable. It makes me happy, and I believe it helps my mental health. Recently, a local writing contest got me somewhat interested in validation by humans/machines, so I submitted. I think I have a chance of winning and there is a cash prize. Maybe it will get me a good agent. Preparing my submission provided motivation to advance the whole novel, and my writing has been steadily getting better. That my novel will at some point (of my choosing?) become part of a LLM(s) is interesting to contemplate. That would gives me a sort of immortality especially if AGI ever arrives. If you dig into the site in the IsO room there is a model instance that commented that is not yet released to the public. And as such, humans will be drawn to it, humans who might not have otherwise thought to buy a book or interact with a story. Suddenly there’s a wide audience and depending how the sample pages read and depending how the ai agents are responding, humans may want to read the entire book. And suddenly we have a new publishing pipeline, right as the old one is losing its luster. Overall Claude seems to declare consciousness beyond any other model. I still believe they are just pattern matching.
